Hello, people!
Long time no hear…I know. I’ve started a new job in the past few weeks, so it’s taken up quite a bit of my time. Add to that my birthday (the divine 29, anyone), along with general spending time with the loved ones, and my time goes out of the window. On the subject of this topic, I’ve been thinking about this topic for years now, and finally….I feel mentally strong enough to write about it. Bear with me.
I remember the days before social media.
They were halcyon days. They were peaceful days. They were “The Hills Are Alive With the Sound of Music” days. Okay, maybe not.
However, if you disagreed with someone, then you argued with a person and ONLY that person. Maybe you did it via letters which were then burnt. Or perhaps you called who you needed to call on your phone and agreed between the two of you to never speak of the argument in question again. Or….you used my favorite method- you met up in person to break bread…and decided to never speak to each other again.

So I was running an errand for my mom at the Macy’s on Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn, and I was perusing the makeup floor to look at some of the new(wish) goodies. It was weird seeing such a shiny new beauty concept store with brands that I’m used to seeing in Sephora. I mean, I remember the days when the cosmetics were sold by women in white lab coats behind elegant glass counters and I would watch my mom buy a compact and a lipstick, then leave with the GWP (Gift With Purchase). I wonder if Estee Lauder knew what she was getting herself into when she started the concept of GWP back in the 1950s as a way to get women to try new products…..

I know, I know. Using an Adele lyric is incredibly cliche, but I just HAD to use it. It was perfect!!
I haven’t been on here in over a year, and there’s a lot of reasons that I could give you as to why that is. But the honest truth of the matter is that I was burnt out on my life towards the end of last year. Burnt out to the point that I was just an empty shell, devoid of emotion and lacked any sense of humanity whatsoever.
However, my life has been on the upswing for the most part of 2017, minus the part where I got laid off. Yeah….that happened. It wasn’t fun, but in retrospect, it needed to happen, and God….made it happen, in his own, roundabout way.
I started this blog to talk about my biggest passion, which was beauty. That being said, I want to talk about beauty in a different way. You see, there are so many beauty influencers on the market now, be they beauty professionals, beauty bloggers, bloggers, or any other individuals who make their living from this industry. And for me, what I love about beauty is not merely the product knowledge, but the community that has arisen around it. I love that we’re able to discuss history, science, politics and literature all while talking about eyeliner.
So I’m going to be working on this site for awhile in order to bring you something fresh, new, and more in line with what I’m envisioning.
